Larry, I want to thank you.

I started my first serious writing effort in May with huge anticipation, only to fizzle out at the beginning of July after realizing I hadn't nailed down what you revealed in this article.

At the beginning I thought I had a good over-arching idea of how my story would begin, progress, and conclude. The plot, subsequent twists, the antagonists, protagonists, sub-plots, relationships, romances, and rivalries, but I still felt something was missing.

And then I read this article. Somewhere in the back of my subconsicous, there was a dim bulb I knew existed, but I could never find the rope to flick it on, being in a dark corner without a form; a definition.

The first plot point. Since you called it by its name and helped me understand it better, my story which I slowly lost hope on has what I believe is the formation of a complete FPP.

I'll be applying what I learn from your blog to my efforts and try to knit everything together again, from where I left off. Giving serious consideration to getting your 101 tips book too. Another resource never hurt one's efforts.

Thank you again.

Larry, I like how you include that The First Plot Point can be life altering yet quiet and gentle. So much of what I read seems to imply that things have to be hard and fast to work in today's stories. I feared there was no room left for a more subtle approach.

Thank you for showing there is.
