Book me.  I’m affordable, I’m flexible,  and I’m on fire in front of a group of writers.

I can tailor a workshop for any topic and any time-window you need, from one hour to a full two day (or longer… I’ve done them up to an entire week-long experience) master class.

I have a reasonable base day rate, but I’ll work with you to create a win-win that fits within your budget.

Here are what some of my workshop clients have to say:

“We’ve had Larry Brooks in twice to headline our conference. The first time he drove a few hours to get here. The second time we were ready to fly him in from anywhere. And did. His half day classes were break-through sessions for many of us. We had the facts. We’d heard the advice. We knew nothing. When Larry Brooks puts it all together, lightning strikes. Clarity, knowledge, mission. You are torn between not being able to leave and wanting to rush home and start writing. Honestly, his workshop is a life changer.”

“With the zeal of a football coach, Larry Brooks delivered a nuts & bolts approach to writing the novel, focusing on story structure and development. His dynamic class appealed to students just beginning their novels and those who have completed them and were seeking techniques to enhance their storytelling skills.”

Mindy Halleck, Member of the Write On The Sound (WOTS) Steering Committee (Edmonds WA)

“Larry Brooks’s participation at SiWC received rave reviews from attendees, describing him as a well-prepared, engaging speaker. His sessions were a personal highlight of the conference for many.”

Kathy Chung, Coordinator, Surrey International Writers Conference

“Larry Brooks ignited a group of more than 40 writers at our Idaho Writers Guild workshop in Boise.  He is one fired up guy when teaching his principles of Story Engineering and Story Physics, and now everyone who attended is just as fired up about putting them to use.  Thanks a ton, Larry!”

“Larry Brooks is the best teacher/mentor I have ever encountered. He teaches the structure of story in a way that makes sense. I have read Larry’s books — “Story Engineering” and “Story Physics,” and I follow his blog posts on Storyfix.com and Killzoneblog.com. I have also attended his workshop with my writing organization and purchased two of his coaching questionnaires. Needless to say, I am a fan. I highly recommend his website, his coaching, his workshops and his books for writers of all levels. ”

  1. I am an amateur author of about twelve years, producing four fiction novels, (science fiction and fantasy), in my spare time. I would love to hear you speak in person. There is an annual convention in Atlanta Georgia, called Dragon Con, that goes on every year around Labor Day weekend. Have you ever considered attending? They have writer tracks and seminars which draw in a large group of budding authors every year. It might be worth your time. If you are attending, please let me know. I would make it a point to be there.

  2. Hello Mr. Brooks,
I was wondering what your schedule was like this year for your workshops. Are you going to have any that are close to Lewiston Idaho? Like maybe Spokane Washington or maybe Moscow Idaho?

  3. Larry, I heard you were doing a workshop in Fayetteville, NC on November 4 & 5 at the public library. I live 8 hours away but I plan to attend. However, I don’t see anything on the library site where I can register. Are you still coming? If so, what time would your Sunday session end? I would like to make travel arrangements this week.

  4. Hi Larry,

I recommend Story Engineering to members of my writing critique group, and we recently started a spin-off table to focus on story structure development before diving in and “pantsing it.” One of our members heard you speak at a writer’s conference in Vegas. If I’d known about it, I’d have been there. So… do you have any upcoming speaking or teaching engagements in conferences in the southwest, within the next 12 months?

    All the best,

  5. Will you be in the north Florida area? Southern Georgia? in the future. Please let me know – I loved your books and they have really been helping me structuring my books and outline.

    interested in copywriting

I’ve written legal documents for many years. Now I’d like
to transfer my experience and knowledge to become
    a copywriter.

  7. Larry,

Do you have any workshops coming up in the greater Phoenix area? I’ll travel out of state if I have to.
    Thanks,
    Kathleen Parrish

    1. @Kathleen – thanks for asking. Not sure if you’re aware, but I live in Scottsdale. Nothing on the books now, but it’s early in the year and most conferences seem to materialize in the first quarter, for later in the year. If you know of a writer’s group in town that may need a workshop or conference speaker, feel free to refer them to me (that’s how a lot of these types of bookings happen). Thanks for your interest, and for reading my stuff. Larry
